How can I burn directly to DVD?
To burn directly to a writeable DVD or CD only Power Producer Gold can be used. The manual for Power Producer can be found on the Power Producer CD.

I cannot install the software / drivers
or "This is not a valid capture device"

Please go to:
Controlpanel - System - Hardware - Device Manager, Expand the sound, video & gamecontrollers, IF you have any form of LEGACY drivers in there, you cannot install our drivers. The legacy drivers, is Windows drivers for your graphicscard !

In order to get our software to work, you need to replace the LEGACY drivers, with the original / latest drivers for your graphicscard !

Updated drivers can be found on your graphic card manufacturer's website.

To identify your graphics card, open the Windows Control Panel, and choose the 'Display Properties' item. In the dialog box that appears, click the 'Settings' tab (normally the right-most tab). At the bottom right corner of the Settings pane is a button labelled 'Advanced'; click this to open another dialog box.

In the Advanced box is a tab called 'Adapter', click this and information about your graphics card will be displayed. The important pieces of information are the Manufacturer and the Chipset. Common manufacturers are Intel, ATI, Matrox and nVidia. The chipset number or name will be useful for finding drivers on the manufacturer's website. (The model name is sometimes also displayed as the first line in the Adapter tab).

The safest way to find drivers is to search for the manufacturer's website (some are listed below), and then look for a 'downloads', 'drivers' or 'support' section of the site. Depending on the site you can then search based on your graphics card's model number and download the driver files. The manufacturer's site should include instruction on how to install the files - normally the download is simply an installer you can run.

Simply attach the DVD Maker to your USB 2.0 port.

How do I select the file format for the video that I am capturing?
Choose TVR. In TVR, choose the middle icon on the top row. The Setup window should appear. Make sure the “Capture Tab” is chosen. For Capture Format (profile), choose “DVD (NTSC)”.

I get a warning that the software is not certified by Microsoft ?
Just choose "continue anyway" !
The software will NOT do any harm to your computer, this is just a question of Microsoft wanting to have their logo on the software, which will only make your product more expensive.

What does the button on the box do ?
It takes a snapshot of the screen, and saves it in the clipboard, you can then go to another program, like MS Word - Photoshop, Etc. and paste it in.
There is no visual effect when the button is pushed down.

When I try to burn my files, I get the "Invalid file size" error ?
Your files have been captured in the wrong format.
Go to setup, and set the "Capture format profile" to:
USA: DVD NTSC
UK: DVD PAL
AUS: DVD PAL
You will need to capture your files again, in the new format.

I get an error when burning a DVD ?
Did you capture the file in the correct format ?
Europe & Australia = DVD (PAL)
USA = DVD (NTSC)
If no, you need to capture the files again (change it in setup) with this format !
If yes, Try using another DVD burning software, like the one that came with your DVD burner, or download the "DVD Burn 3,1" program from our download section
(NOTE: Is installed as a seperate program, and will no longer be integreted in the PVR-plus software)

I get a very bad picture through the DVD maker ?
1. Does your computer have USB 2.0 as required?
2. Is your computer the min. 2000 Mhz. / Pentium 4 required ?
3. Go to the setup menu, and the VIDEO fan, make sure that your video system is set to your country's standards:
UK = PAL-I
USA = NTSC-M
Restart the program !

Why can't the DVD maker find my DVD burner drive?
To make the DVD maker recognize your DVD burner drive you have to download the newest version of the DVD maker in our download section.
NOTE: The new Version of Burn DVD is installed and must be runned as a seperate program !

The sound does not synchronise with the pictures ?
To fix this download the "PATCH" program from the download section of our website.

Why do I keep getting a blackscreen when starting the PVR plus software?

1. You can only have 1 connection. choose the S-video cabel, or the composite cabel.

2. Make sure that everything is connected correctly. Make sure that the videosource is set to "composite" or "S-video" - depending on the way you connected the DVD maker to your PC. You can choose by rightclicking on the black screen and choose "switch video source".

Make sure that the installation CD is inserted into the CD-ROM drive!

Can I use the DVD maker with USB 1.1
Only USB 2.0 enabled computers can take full use of the DVD maker. If a computer only has USB 1.0/1.1 functionality then the user can only use the lower resolution capture profiles (Very pixelated picture). It is highly recommended to use USB 2.0 devices with the DVDmaker!

PVR Plus and Power Producer Gold. Which one should I use?
Only PVR Plus is described in the manual, however Power Producer Gold can do the same and more. PVR Plus is recommended for the novice user and Power Producer Gold for the more experienced user. The manual for Power Producer can be found on the Power Producer CD

How do I get MPEG4 format?
Mpeg4 can be different codecs. The DivX encoder codec from www.divx.com is recommended.
Go to TVR. Choose Setup Button. Capture format should be set to MPEG 4 (as described in the manual)
And MPEG 4 Codec setting at Microsoft V3

I tried to convert a video to DVD, but the file was too big for the DVD.
Most DVD’s are limited to 4.7Gb. The amount of storage is usually indicated on the DVD. This is usually about 2 hours of video. Try to convert less than 2 hours at a time into a file. Or, don’t burn more than the indicated storage of the DVD.

I converted a video and burned a DVD, but the quality was not that good.
You should use the capture profile: DVD (NTSC). If you do this then the recorded material will have the best possible quality for DVD. In TVR, right click on the screen and choose Setup. The Setup Window will appear. Make sure the “Capture Tab” is chosen. For Capture Format (profile), choose “DVD (NTSC)”. Please refer also to page 16 of the Quick Reference and Installation Guide for more about Settings.

I only get a blue (or black) screen when I try to capture video (TVR)
Press play on your VCR or camcorder. Do you see any image?
If not, please make sure that your cables are connected properly. The USB connector should be connected to the USB2.0 connector on your computer. Are you using the red, white, and yellow cables to connect to your VCR? If so, make sure that they are connected to the OUTPUT jacks on your VCR. The colors of the connectors should match the colors of the jacks on your VCR. Are you using the S-Video connection? Please make sure that this is connected well to your VCR.
Please make sure that you are now playing a video. Now do you see any image? If not, look at the TVR window on your screen. You should see a white box with either the word “Composite” or “S-Video”
Please make sure it matches the kind of connection that you chose. You can toggle between them by clicking on the word.
Please make sure that you are now playing a video.
Now click on the Video tab. Make sure the Video system is set to NTSC-M
