  • Q: Does scart converter support video in and out?
Ans: yes, with our scart converter, it can support video in and out for more application and digital editing.

  • Q1. Why are video files created as AVI or QuickTime formats not outputting as PAL or NTSC standard settings when I choose them from the Preferences menu?
Ans: The PAL and NTSC settings only affect DV AVI, VCD (MPEG1), and DVD (MPEG2). The format specs for these file types must meet one of the TV standard settings of PAL or NTSC. This isn’t applicable for Microsoft AVI or Quicktime formats because they can choose from a variety of different resolutions outside of the NTSC or PAL specification.

  • Q2. When I create a DVD, why is the the actual data size written on disc different from what is estimated by ShowBiz DVD2?
Ans: ShowBiz DVD 2 will give an “estimate” as to how big the project will be when creating the DVD. It’s a complex task to estimate the size of all of the different video files because they can have different properties and bitrates. The program doesn’t know the exact files size until the DVD project has been created. It must provide its best estimate using our special techniques, but sometimes the file may vary depending on the video. If a DVD-project is created using variable bitrates, the difference can be much larger than if the user selects constant. More guesswork is involved with variable bitrates and the exact size can’t be determined therefore ShowBiz will provide the best project estimate it can.

  • Q3. Where can I obtain drivers for my camera, scanner, and/or printer?
Ans: Drivers are created and supported by the device company. You would want to contact them directly with regards to drivers. Please check our device manual or literature to find their contact information.

  • Q4. Why do I get a "virtual memory low" warning message when creating a DVD or VCD with ShowBiz 2.0?
Ans: The "virtual memory low" warning message appears when the system is running low on memory. This is automatically done by Windows and not ShowBiz 2.0. The system can require a lot of system memory when working with a lot of project files like photos, music, and video. When ShowBiz 2.0 creates a DVD or VCD project, it uses even more memory in order to create the project. If there isn’t enough memory, then Windows can pop up the warning message, but the project should write fine as long as enough memory is present.

  • Q5. Why does my DV camcorder’s VCR playback cause audio distortion during the capture or writeback to tape preview?
Ans: A small number of DV camcorders may produce distorted audio through the speakers during DV capturing or previewing. This can happen when the DV video is in the Pause, Rewind, Fast Forward, or Play mode. You have the option to click on the MUTE checkbox or turn down the speaker volume to avoid hearing the distortion. The DV preview and capture features are found in the Capture, QuickDVD, and Export>DV sections of the application.

  • Q6. Why does it say that my capture device cannot be found?
Ans: The problem that you're having appears to stem from the camera drivers. Drivers basically relay information to and from the camera and computer. There are specific drivers for each hardware device. The drivers may not be installed correctly, or are conflicting with other devices. We provide support for the accompanying imaging software. In any case, the camera manufacturer will be able to help you with any camera, driver, connection, and download problem.

Q7. Why won't my software install properly? (Windows only)
Ans: Background applications running on your system can cause problems when you attempt to install new software. Whether you are installing an ArcSoft retail program, or software on a bundle CD that came with a hardware device (camera, scanner, printer, etc.), try these steps to install your software:
  • Close all programs/windows and reboot your computer.
  • After your computer is finished rebooting, double-click the "My Computer" icon on your desktop.
  • A list of drives and system folders will be displayed. Right-click the drive that contains the CD.
From the list of options that appears, choose "Open."
  • A window displaying the contents of the CD will appear. You'll only need one file to start the installation process.  Typically, this file is called "Setup," but it may also be called "Setup.exe."  When you find this file, double-click it. The installation process for the CD will begin.

  • Q8. Why am I getting an error when I try to access a file within an album?
Ans: Albums do not contain actual files. They use thumbnails and reference where the files are stored. When you try to open a file, the album looks in the location where the file is stored. If you've deleted, moved, or renamed the file, the album won't be able to find it. Also, if you've created the thumbnails from files on a floppy disk or other removable media, you'll need that original disk in the drive whenever you want to access the file(s).
If you continue to have problems installing your software and hardware driver from the CD, , please contact us.
