- Q. The Steering Wheel keeps shaking when I’m not touching it.
A. You can stop the wheel from shaking by holding it in the centre. You can also disable Force Feedback by removing the 12V plug from the steering wheel.
- Q. I can’t get ‘Teach’ mode. Where is the orange light?
A. The orange light is actually very similar to the red light. The difference is visible (just), but you may find that the easiest way to find teach mode is to press the mode light until it is in F1 mode (flashing fast), then press it once more. This is ‘Teach’ mode.
- Q. How do I change the controls?
The best way to change the controls to work with the steering wheel is to change them in the game’s own options. Many games can change the control layout by choosing ‘control options’ or ‘controller settings’ (or something similar) from the main menu. Setting the controls in the game means that your settings will be saved for the future. Refer to the game manual for details.
If you are unable to set the controls in the game, you can program the steering wheel to use different control inputs. To do this, put the wheel in Teach Mode (see above) then hold the control you wish to change, and press the relevant button.
For example: If you wanted to have the gearstick work in the standard sequential gearbox manner:
Pull stick back = Shift Up
Push stick forward = Shift Down
You would put the wheel in Teach Mode, hold the gearstick back, and press the button for shift up. Then cycle mode around to teach mode again (by pressing Mode repeatedly), hold the gearstick forward, and press the button for shift down.
Note that some controls are duplicated. For example, if the control that you wish to assign to Gearstick Up is currently on Gearstick Left or Right, you will need to find the button for that control, not the gearstick. Look on the back face of the steering wheel.
- Q. I can’t select ‘Weak Force’ mode.
Weak Force mode is not selectable using the Mode button, but the Force Feedback (FF) can be disabled by removing the power lead from the steering wheel, once the game starts. The wheel will still function as a control device, albeit without the shaking. Some users are able to set faster times with FF disabled, at the cost of realism and immersion.
